Reviewing the prevalence of fatal car accidents

According to information published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's site, there were 30,057 fatal traffic crashes in 2013. Among these crashes, more than 16,400 drivers and over 8,500 passengers were killed in a car accident, while additional deadly accidents involved pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. In Ocala, and across the state of Florida, car accidents are a very serious and potentially life-threatening problem. In order to save lives, it is important for drivers to recognize the dangers and find ways to reduce the likelihood of a deadly traffic crash.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also offers insight into the prevalence of fatal car accidents  on their website. In 2012, the CDC reports that Florida's death rate for motor vehicle occupants was 6.4 per 100,000 people. In Mississippi, the rate was 16.0 per 100,000 motor vehicle occupants, while North Dakota's death rate was 20.2. Clearly, car accidents are a major problem throughout the United States and continue to result in tragic fatalities that never should have happened.

When someone passes away in a car accident, the loved ones they leave behind may experience tremendous sadness and have a sense of hopelessness. Furthermore, they may also face financial hardships after losing a family member in an auto accident. Even when car accidents don't result in loss of life, debilitating injuries, medical expenses and other problems can turn life upside down for those involved. From texting and driving to a drunk driver who takes to the road after having one too many, these accidents keep occurring for many reasons and it is vital for victims and their families to hold negligent drivers responsible.
